Dow Jones Futures Rise as US Senate Moves to End Shutdown
Dow Jones futures edge higher, trading above 47,150, gaining 0.18% during Monday’s European session, as investor sentiment improves on hopes that the prolonged US government shutdown may soon end. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures also advance by 0.70% and 1.24%, respectively.
Market optimism strengthened after the US Senate voted 60–40 to advance a funding bill aimed at reopening the government, with the final approval process expected in the coming days. A resolution could restore confidence in the US economy and support further equity gains.
Sentiment also improved after China temporarily lifted its ban on exporting key “dual-use items” such as gallium and germanium to the US, easing trade tensions between the two largest global economies.
Despite the rebound, investors remain cautious following last week’s tech selloff, as concerns over stretched AI valuations dragged Wall Street lower. In corporate updates, Nvidia urged TSMC to boost chip production amid rising AI demand, while Pfizer confirmed a $10 billion acquisition of Metsera, outbidding Novo Nordisk.
